The Conservatives have mooted a new system for the payment of care costs.  They are proposing a single payment of £8,000 which will then guarantee that no additional costs will be charged.  That was announced before their conference and one day later this has had a caveat added in which they reserve the right to make extra charges for the more expensive care homes.  It will be interesting to see exactly what the proposal is, how it is going to work, and how it is going to be paid for!
